RESUME

Haoquan is a digital and mixed-media artist based in New York, originally from Qionghai, Hainan. His work lies at the intersection of emerging technology, spatial storytelling, and visual culture—merging virtual production, 3D, fashion, and traditional visual design to craft emotionally charged visual worlds.

Trained in interactive media, Haoquan moves fluidly between disciplines. He is not only a world-builder in 3D environments but also a versatile art director with a strong command of visual design—spanning graphics, product aesthetics, and moving image. Whether directing a fashion film, designing a brand campaign, or shaping an immersive installation, his approach is unified by a keen sensitivity to form, texture, and mood.

His practice often employs tools like Unreal Engine and motion capture to create poetic, cinematic experiences. Across all mediums, Haoquan seeks to design not just visuals—but atmospheres that breathe, linger, and transform.

Blending contemporary sensibilities with cultural memory, his work invites viewers into spaces where emotion is embedded in geometry, silence becomes narrative, and aesthetics speak beyond the surface.

Dolca Morto

Virtual Production Fashion Lookbook

Virtual production fashion shoot & campaign
New York, 2024

dolca morto is an independent project where I explored how 3D game engines and virtual production can reshape fashion storytelling. I directed and produced a virtual fashion lookbook, designing the environment, motion, and camera language entirely within Unreal Engine.

My role spanned from art direction to technical execution: building digital sets, choreographing garments in motion, and framing them through cinematic sequencing. By treating the lookbook as an immersive world rather than static presentation, the project highlights how emerging media can expand fashion narratives beyond traditional photography and film.

12 Sculptural “Forms”, 12 Starting Points;
No Beginnings, No Ends…

A Conceptual Short For Wenjue Lu’s annual project Collection 2024, titled “Aufhebung”

3D Animation & Renderings
New York, 2025

For Wenjue Lu’s annual collection Aufhebung, I collaborated closely with the designer on the overall creative direction of the project’s video component. Drawing from the collection’s “12 Forms” sculpture series, I created a 3D animation that extends the dialogue between garment-making and sculpture into a digital, spatial medium.

Beyond the visual execution, I co-directed the artistic vision with Wenjue Lu and coordinated with music producer Alan Lecheng Chao, integrating experimental sound design into the piece. This synergy of image and sound crafted a more immersive and multi-sensory experience, reinforcing the collection’s theme of continuous transformation and inspiration.

Interspecies Love Letter: Sky Painting for EARTH to SPACE

3D Animation & Projection Mapping
Kennedy Center, 2025

As part of Cai Guo-Qiang’s large-scale multimedia performance, I led the design and production of 3D animation projection mapping sequences that brought the narrative of "Stella"—a solitary satellite drifting through space—to the gravyard of satellites in space. Collaborating closely with the Cai’s team and the cAI™ system, I translated cosmic storytelling into immersive visual experiences projected across 150m wide monumental forrest. My work integrated seamlessly with custom fireworks and live performance, creating a dialogue between Earth and the cosmos through light, movement, and emotion.

Blue Desert

an experimental short film rendered in Unreal Engine

Experimental storytelling | CGI film
New York, 2024

Blue Desert is a short film created in Unreal Engine, exploring the threshold between reality and dream. I co-directed it with Michelle Ma, and co-produced the project, shaping it as a poetic journey through fragmented memory and inner landscapes.

My efforts combined narrative development, visual world-building, and cinematic direction, using real-time 3D environments to mirror the protagonist’s fractured psyche. By blending immersive visuals with lyrical storytelling, the film investigates themes of loss, connection, and the pursuit of meaning beyond consciousness.

Light v.

Land Art Installation
Hebei, China 2024

“Light v.” is a series of abstract land art installations. “v.” is the abbreviation for verb. This work aims to discard the artist’s subjective narrative and let the light speak for itself. It transforms the beach into a canvas and the ocean into a backdrop, allowing the audience to freely choose how to observe, interact with, and interpret the piece.
